What is a Digital Print and How It Works

Buying art for your home doesn't always mean receiving a package at your door.

Digital prints offer another way to decorate: you choose an illustration you like, receive the file in digital format, and decide where, how, and in what size you want to print it.

At Lumielle, we believe that this freedom is part of the beauty.

What exactly is a digital print?

A digital print is a piece of art delivered as a digital file, instead of a physical print.

After making your purchase, you receive the files corresponding to the illustration you have chosen. You can download them and take them to print at home, at a copy shop, at a photo lab, or at a professional printing service.

You don't have to wait for shipping or adapt to a single print size.

The file travels with you, and you decide how to bring it to life.

How does a digital print work?

The process is simple.

01. Choose your illustration

Explore Lumielle's collections and find a piece that fits your space, your style, or simply something you want to look at every day.

You can choose a single print or combine several to create a more personal composition.

02. Place your order

When you find your favorite, add it to your cart and complete the checkout process.

As this is a digital product, you won't need to provide an address to receive a physical package.

Once payment is confirmed, you will be able to access your digital files according to the download system available at Lumielle.

03. Download your files

After completing your purchase, you can download the files included in your order.

We recommend saving them in a safe place so you can access them whenever you want to print your print.

You don't need to print it immediately. You can download it, take your time deciding where you want to place it, and later choose the paper, size, and printing location.

04. Print your print

This is where the digital file becomes something physical.

You can print your print in different ways:

At home, if you have a suitable printer and want to do it quickly and conveniently.

At a copy shop, a simple option for regular prints.

At a photo lab or professional printing service, if you're looking for a wider variety of papers and a more polished finish.

The choice depends on the result you want to achieve, the size of the print, and the type of paper you prefer.

To achieve a particularly beautiful finish, we recommend using high-quality matte or fine art paper, as its texture can give a more artistic printed appearance.

05. Frame and enjoy

Once printed, all that's left is to choose the frame.

A light wood frame can add warmth. A white frame keeps a light composition. A dark frame can create more contrast and make the illustration stand out.

You can also combine different frames, sizes, and orientations to create a small gallery.

And perhaps this is one of the most beautiful things about digital prints: the same illustration can be part of completely different spaces.

What do you receive when you buy a digital print?

When you purchase a digital print from Lumielle, you receive the digital files specified on the product page.

These files are prepared for you to print your illustration and use it as decoration in your home.

The purchase does not include:

  • A physical print.

  • A frame.

  • Shipping costs.

  • Professional printing.

  • Customization of the illustration.

The formats, sizes, and specific files included may vary depending on the product, so we recommend always checking the information for each print before purchasing.

Where can I print my print?

You have several options.

Print at home

This is the most convenient alternative if you already have a suitable printer. It allows you to control the timing of the print and make small tests before choosing the final result.

Print at a copy shop

A practical option if you don't have a printer or want to print quickly in different sizes.

Print at a printing service or lab

This can be the best alternative if you're looking for a more professional finish, a wider selection of papers, or a particularly careful color reproduction.

There is no single correct way to print a digital print. The important thing is to choose the option that best fits your space and the result you want to achieve.

What paper should I choose?

The paper can greatly change the final appearance of an illustration.

For Lumielle prints, we generally recommend:

Matte paper:
Its lack of shine helps achieve a smooth and elegant finish.

Fine art paper:
Its texture and quality can provide a more artistic and sophisticated feel.

Photo paper:
It can work well when you're looking for more intense colors and a brighter surface, although the result will be different from that of a matte art paper.

If you want to delve deeper into this topic, you can check our Printing Guide, where we explain in more detail what paper to choose and how to prepare your file before printing it.

Why choose a digital print?

In addition to the freedom to choose how to print it, the digital format has other advantages.

No waiting

You don't need to wait for a package to arrive.

No shipping costs

There is no physical transport or packaging associated with the purchase.

Print whenever you want

You can print your print immediately or save the file to do it later.

Choose how you want to see it

You can select the paper, size, and frame that best fit your home.

Create your own composition

Combine different illustrations and sizes to create a completely personal wall.

A small piece of art for your own space

Perhaps the most beautiful thing about a digital print is that the story doesn't end when you click “buy.”

It begins then.

On the paper you choose.
On the frame you find.
On that wall that has been waiting for something for months.
In the corner where you finally decide to place it.

Because decorating can also be a way of making the place we live our own.
